Hot Fudge Sauce

Isn’t it amazing how a bad day can be fixed with a little bit of chocolate? (and a glass of wine)  If you don’t like chocolate, I think you fall into the minority of the US population on that opinion.  Chocolate goes with almost everything and this is no exception.  Warm up and put on-top of ice cream, scoop a spoonful out and just eat, or use it to dip.  This fudge sauce will be scrumptious whatever way you decide to eat it!

This is one of those family recipes that I don’t know where it originated from, all I know is that I got it from my mom, and it is YUMMY!

Hot Fudge Sauce
Ingredients: 
1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet)
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
2 cups powdered sugar
1 1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
1. In a medium pan, melt chocolate chips and butter over medium heat.
2. Add powdered sugar and evaporated milk.  Turn up to high heat and bring to a boil.  Stirring constantly, boil for 8 minutes.
3. Remove from heat.  Add vanilla.

This makes approximately 2 2/3 cups fudge.  Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes: if using a standard-size mason jar, it will fill 1 and a 1/2.  I used the smaller 1 cup sized mason jar and it fit nicely into 3 (shown below).

To eat, scoop some out and place in a microwave-safe bowl.  Microwave for a couple seconds and serve on-top of ice cream.  This can also be used as a dip for strawberries, marshmallows, graham crackers, rice crispy treats, etc… anything you would dip with a chocolate fondue.

Or, try it with some homemade vanilla ice cream!  Scrumptious!

Obviously this would be a great Valentine’s Day gift for a friend, significant other, parent, co-worker, teacher, you name it!  Wrap with ribbon or twine to add a little “flair” and this gift would be well received.
